AEGEE Maastricht

welcomes you

2009/2010

Dear upcoming and current students,

Welcome to the European Student’s Association AEGEE Maastricht! Throughout the next pages you’ll find all the information you need to get enthusiastic about AEGEE and Europe itself.

When you join our association, you will get an unique perspective and a relaxed, international atmosphere. However, we provide even more:  we offer two levels, something no other association in Maastricht can offer.

To start off with, we have a local level where we organise exciting activities, fun drinks and good parties. This is completely on a volunteer basis: unlike some associations, we never make you do anything you don’t want to. Taking a broader picture, there is a European level where a lot of exciting events such as international conferences and cultural exchanges take place, which are informative, educational, and culturally stimulating.

But what does AEGEE stand for? It stands for different things for different people, you have to experience it for yourself. This website will give you a hint of how you can explore Europe through our association.

For us, AEGEE means different things. It means Tuesday drinks with friends, socialising and having a good conversation in the Twee Heeren, one of Maastricht’s most popular bars (located in the centre of the city).

It means special activities on Thursday, from beer tastings, movie nights, to themed parties and karaoke nights.

It means travelling through Europe, attending educationally important conferences and seminars on European issues, connecting with policy-makers and making an impact on a wider scale.

It means organising prestigious conferences, exchanges, and events that are both culturally and academically stimulating.

It means meeting people from all over Europe, making friends from Bratislava to Barcelona.

It means attending Summer Universities and student exchanges, getting to understand different cultures and (for example) spending time on a beach in Spain or visiting somewhere in Eastern Europe.

There are over 15.000 students in AEGEE spread over 238 cities!

It’s up to you how you fill in your year, which activities you partake in and which level attracts you most. We offer you the possibilities; it’s up to you to take us up on it.

Whatever you decide, remember that your student period is much more than just studying. We are looking forward to meeting you during one of our weekly drinks and activities!
